Dominika Dmowska-Pawłowska
PhD Student
I am an Industrial PhD student working jointly at Croda Pharma and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). I hold a BEng in Biotechnology from the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and MSc from Erasmus Mundus Live Master’s in Vaccinology, which gave me the opportunity to receive international research experience across Europe, including in Barcelona, Antwerp and Lyon.
My journey in vaccine research began during my undergraduate degree at Aarhus University Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, where I contributed to a study investigating adjuvanted live-attenuated viral vaccines against infectious bronchitis in poultry. During my bachelor’s thesis, I worked at the Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in Warsaw, investigating the antiviral properties of lactoferrin-functionalized nanoparticles based on noble metals against human herpetic viruses. I joined Croda Pharma during my master’s thesis and now I continue my journey there as an Industrial PhD student. My doctoral research focuses on the formulation and characterization of novel vaccine adjuvant systems, with focus on sustainably sourced compounds and the development of more sustainable approaches to vaccine formulation.
I am currently based at the Jenner Institute within the Adjuvants Group led by Prof. Anita Milicic, where I am investigating the early immune responses elicited by these novel formulations through preliminary immunological studies. Alongside my research, I am personally passionate about vaccine communication.
